Student Testimonial

Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Technology Certificate Program

Cape Breton University and PharmEng Technology Inc.

The Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Technology Program at CBU was a great learning and life experience.  With an undergraduate degree in engineering, I was exposed to aspects of engineering that were much different from my previous experiences and I was able to apply concepts I had learned previously to these new aspects.  The program instructors were very knowledgeable and the courses were open and interactive which gave an added value to the learning process.  The work term was very professional and provided me the opportunity to gain real work experience in the pharmaceutical industry.  I had an opportunity to travel during the term and provided consulting services to a major pharmaceutical company in the USA.  With opportunities in both the manufacturing and consulting sectors, students were able to choose a location and assignment that best suited their individual career goals.  The work term gave me a feel for the industry which allowed me to decide that a career in the industry was what I really wanted to pursue.  Through this course, I was able to break into the industry and obtain employment as a consultant with PharmEng Technology.  I now use the knowledge I gained in the course everyday and continue to expand my knowledge base.

2005/2006 BPTP Graduate

The BPTP program gave me an excellent foundation in all aspects of the pharmaceutical industry. My work term in Toronto gave me actual industry experience that gives me an advantage over others entering the industry.  The instructors were very knowledgeable about the topics they presented.  It was beneficial that the instructors could add to the theory with examples from their experiences in the field.
Best of all for me is that I now have a good paying job in Cape Breton using my degree.
